Lipsticks with the staying power we need!
- by glippy
I do love my lipsticks! I think this has come from my mum who does occasional utter the phrase, “No lippy today??” If I happen not to wear any (especially for a special occasion) as she too does love her lipstick…. she loves it so much that it is actually the first bit of makeup she applies!! I don’t know anyone else who does this but she says it is the start for her, with everything else following
So, anyway, back to my great lipsticks….
I would say I have 3 great lipstick makes which I rely on time and time again:
1)Chanel Rough Allure – I have number 20, Voluptuous and I think it is a great colour, as it is a red, but not too bright and so I think it warrants being able to wear it in the day as well as night without you looking too over done. The staying power is better than most, lasting though a few drinks or even a meal (as you know that is the true test!! lol). It is quite moisturising so if you suffer with dry lips this is probably a good one to go for.
2) MAC Pro Longwear – Now this is probably the longest lasting lippy I have tried and I do love it! To give you a sense of how long it lasts, if I wear it for work and pop it on around 8:30am, I won’t need to reapply until around 1 or 2pm (and that would include drinks, snack and possibly lunch!). If I am going out for dinner and a few drinks this lipstick has been known to last me the whole night with just one application before I leave my house – yes it is that good!! The only down side is that it is a little on the dry side. I make sure that I apply Vaseline every night before bed and then again in the morning to prevent suffering with dry lips, so if this is a problem for you, try that out to see if it helps at all. Alternatively, you could always pop a gloss on top of the lipstick to give a bit of extra moisture.
3) Maxfactor colour collection – This is my new find! I do love a bit of Maxfactor and I have tried some of their other products so I can’t believe it has taken me this long to discover this little gem! The range of colours is brilliant and I would say it is in between the other two lipsticks mentioned in terms of its moisture. I have got the 830 Dusky Rose which is like a baby pink – yes, many would say that is a ‘blond colour’ but it actually doesn’t look bad when I am wearing a top with some pink in it. The best part is that it is the most affordable – only £7.99 in Boots and they are often doing promotions on 3 for 2.
Well, I hope that helps you with your hunt for long lasting lipsticks! Please let me know if there are any other amazing ones out there which I am not aware of.
